COTTON CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Cotton is one of the best fabrics to use for clothing but it is also one of the easiest to shrink when you wash it, even when clothing has been through a pre-shrinking process.
WHY DOES COTTON SHRINK?
Cotton is a natural fibre that does not enjoy the luxury of having high heat resistance like synthetic fibres.
Also, cotton is often stretched out when it is made into the thread that manufactures need to produce high- quality garments; that stretching makes cotton more vulnerable to shrinking.
To handle cotton like a pro and minimise shrinking percentage, there is one essential piece of advice:
The best way to avoid shrinking cotton clothing items is to make sure you use cold water for washing and hang dry your clothes. If you have no other option but to use a dryer, please make sure you use cool dryer temperatures.
Warm water not only contributes to shrinking but also can affect cotton fibres and weaken them.
Cold temperatures are key to make sure your cotton clothing items last you for a long time.
