Returning your purchase

We hope you’re completely satisfied with your purchase. In case you’re not, returning an item is always possible.

Here are our simple rules for your return to be accepted:

  • You have 14 calendar days from receipt of your item to send it back to us. *Extended during holiday season.

  • Item must be unworn, unwashed, undamaged, unused, with all the original tags still attached.

  • Item must be in the original packaging which must be in original condition.

  • You can return your item using any traceable service; it is your responsibility to ensure the item reaches our premises, so please use a traceable service to ensure your return arrives back to us safely. Please note that when returning an item, the shipping costs are at your own expense.

Please follow the below steps when returning your item:


  • Pack your item and invoice with all original packaging inside the original shipping box.

All goods are inspected upon return & returns that do not comply with our policy may be rejected at discretion of ESSENTIAL ITEMS.

International Returns

For international returns, the same policy and instructions apply; please read the following information before sending the item back to us:

All returned items should be declared as ‘Returns and Repairs of British Merchandise’ on the customs declaration. This should be written on the packaging as well as in the declarations form. Returned packages that don’t have this mention may not be successfully delivered to our fulfilment centre and might be subjected to additional fees.


Returns Policy

Returns are available for all items within 14 days of receipt of the product, provided the return conditions specified below are met:


  1. Items must be returned unworn, unwashed, undamaged, unused, and with all original tags attached. 

  2. Incomplete, damaged, worn, soiled or altered returns, or anything ESSENTIAL ITEMS reasonably believes has been used (including makeup or deodorant rubbing off on the garment), will not be accepted and therefore sent back to the customer. Where an item is supplied with a hygiene strip, the item can only be returned if the hygiene strip has not been removed and remains intact.

Returns take us 2-4 business days to process upon reaching our facility. 
All successfully returned items will be credited to the original payment method used to purchase them. The original shipping charges will not be refunded.

Once your return is processed and your refund is issued, you will receive a refund confirmation e-mail. 
Refunds can take several business days to reflect on your credit card account. This varies depending on your financial institution.


Damaged items

If you have received an item that is damaged, please let us know immediately. You can do it contacting customer service here.



ESSENTIAL ITEMS only sells merchandise that is authentic and first-run; our items go straight from our manufacturers to the fulfilment centre. Please be aware that even such products are not entirely free of workmanship errors, including occasional missing threads and similar defects. Products subject to distressing as part of the styling are also subject to increased chance of defect and do tend to wear out faster than normal. Many products, particularly those with distressed styling, do wear out or develop holes with regular wear-and-tear over time. 

We will handle exchanges or reimbursement requests for minor defects such as missing threads on a case-by-case basis. Please be aware that we need to be notified within the first 48 hours of receipt for your claim to be valid.
